Santa Claus Village tickets and prices

There is no ticket for Santa Claus Village: entry is free every day of the year, and so is meeting Santa. Here is everything that does cost money in the 2026-27 season, with the euro prices, and the bookings that make the day easier.

Santa Claus Village sits on the Arctic Circle, 8 km north of Rovaniemi city centre on highway 4. It is not one attraction with a turnstile. It is a cooperative of over 50 local companies: Santa Claus Office, the Main Post Office, shops, restaurants, reindeer and husky farms, Snowman World and a few hotels, each with its own opening hours and its own prices.

That is why people search for tickets and find none. You pay for the things inside: the photo with Santa, a sleigh ride, a day in the snow park, a certificate for crossing the line. Some are cheap, a few are not, and a handful are worth booking before you fly. All of them are below.

The quick answer

Entry to Santa Claus Village is free, and you need no ticket to walk in, cross the Arctic Circle line or meet Santa at Santa Claus Office. Budget for the extras: official Santa photos from EUR 57, Snowman World EUR 35 per person (6 December 2026 to 17 March 2027), reindeer rides from EUR 30 and the certificate from about EUR 5. Plan 2 to 3 hours outside December and half a day or more in December.

Is Santa Claus Village free to enter?

Yes. There is no entrance fee, no gate and no ticket, and the village is open every day of the year. Meeting Santa Claus at Santa Claus Office is free too, with no booking.

Visit Rovaniemi lists no entrance fee for the village, and Snowman World puts it plainly in its own FAQ: "No ticket needed! Entry to Santa Claus Village is free of charge." You can walk around, step over the Arctic Circle line in the central square, look round Santa's Main Post Office and meet Santa without paying a cent. Christmas House, the second place in the village to meet Santa, is free as well.

Each company sets its own hours, so there is no single closing time. In December, Santa Claus Office, Christmas House, the Main Post Office and Snowman World all close at 20:00, while some restaurants stay open until 23:00. Parking is free.

  • Free: entry, the Arctic Circle line, meeting Santa at Santa Claus Office and Christmas House, the post office, the shops, Café of Mrs. Claus, the mountain bike trails next to the village.
  • Paid: Santa photos, Snowman World, the animal rides, the certificate, postcards and stamps, food, and SantaPark, which is a separate park near the airport.

How much do things cost at Santa Claus Village in 2026-27?

Santa photos start at EUR 57, Snowman World is EUR 35 per person, a short reindeer ride EUR 30, a husky ride from EUR 50 and the Arctic Circle certificate from about EUR 5. The full list is in the table.

These are the providers' own euro prices for the 2026-27 season, or as their pages showed them in October 2026 where no season is printed. "From" means the cheapest option; most places sell bigger packages too.

Two things to know. Santa photos are the cost most families forget: the Photographer Elves film every meeting, you see the result afterwards, and there is no obligation to buy. And the Snowman World ticket has no family or group discount, so a family of four pays EUR 140.

Do you need to book Santa Claus Village tickets in advance?

Not for entry and not for the normal meeting with Santa. Book ahead for the Christmas Express Pass, Snowman World meals in December, the 2.5 km husky ride and any tour with pickup.

The things that sell out are the ones with fixed slots. Snowman World says its restaurant gets fully booked in December and recommends buying entrance tickets ahead, even though you can buy them at the gate. The Christmas Express Pass at Santa Claus Office has a limited number of appointments, and the office advises booking early. The short reindeer rides at Santa Claus Reindeer are the opposite: tickets are sold on site only.

On GetYourGuide, every trip on this site cancels free up to 24 hours before, so a booking made now for December carries little risk. The 2.5 km husky ride runs from 30 November and the Snowman World ticket from 6 December; both are popular in the weeks before Christmas.

How much is Snowman World in 2026-27?

EUR 35 per person for the day, the same for children and adults, and free under 2. The season runs from 6 December 2026 to 17 March 2027, weather permitting.

Snowman World is the snow and ice park inside the village, at Joulumaantie 15. The ticket covers two snow tubing hills, two ice slides, the skating rink with free skates, the snow labyrinth, the year's snow and ice art, the Snowman Disco in the evening and entry to the Ice Bar and the Snow Restaurant. It is valid all day, so you can leave to meet Santa and come back.

  • Early access with a guided tour: EUR 59.
  • Entrance with lunch: EUR 59 to 72 for adults and children over 13, EUR 52 to 62 for children 2-12, depending on the main course.
  • Entrance with a 3-course dinner: EUR 124 adult, EUR 90 child 2-12, from 6 December to 6 January.
  • Cancellation: 95% back more than 24 hours before; date changes free with 24 hours' notice by email.

Until 6 December the park is being built from snow, and only the indoor Café Ensilumi is open, from 6 November. Inside the park it is between 0 and -5 °C, per Visit Rovaniemi. Opening time or late evening is the quiet part of the day.

How much are reindeer and husky rides at Santa Claus Village?

A 400 m reindeer sleigh ride costs EUR 30 and an 800 m ride EUR 50 at Santa Claus Reindeer. Husky rides start at EUR 50 at Arctic Circle Husky Park and EUR 63 for Bearhill's 2.5 km ride.

Both are in or right next to the village. The 400 m reindeer ride takes about 6 minutes and the 800 m forest ride 10 to 15 minutes, and both are sold on site only. Arctic Circle Husky Park, home to about 100 Siberian huskies, sells a visit with a 500 m ride from EUR 50 and a 2 km ride from EUR 65. Santa’s Husky Rides by Bearhill is a 2.5 km run of 7 to 12 minutes in a 30-minute slot, from $70 on GetYourGuide.

Rides depend on snow. Snow usually comes in November, but no company can promise it, and early in the season rides can be shorter or run on wheeled carts. For a longer drive behind the animals, the farm day has you steer your own reindeer sleigh, and the Finnhorse ride next to the village lasts about 30 to 40 minutes on horseback, from age 5. Distances, ages and seasons are compared in the reindeer and husky rides guide.

What does a Santa Claus Village tour add if entry is free?

Transport, a guide and extras such as animal rides, lunch or winter clothing. No tour sells entry, because there is nothing to sell.

You can reach the village on your own for under EUR 4 each way on bus 8, about half an hour from the centre. A tour adds hotel pickup, a guide who knows the village and whatever else is in the price. Guides can also collect the free Entrance Time at Santa Claus Office for you on busy days, which saves you a trip to the red cabin first thing; the queue inside is the same for everyone. The getting-there guide covers the bus, taxis and parking.

Official Santa photos are almost never included in a tour; budget from EUR 57 at Santa Claus Office on top. The private meeting is the exception, with one printed A5 photo per family.

How many hours do you need at Santa Claus Village?

Our suggestion: 2 to 3 hours for Santa, the line and the post office outside December, and half a day or more in December or with Snowman World or a ride.

There is no official figure, so here is how the time adds up. In December, Santa Claus Office asks you to allow about an hour for the queue inside, and on busy days you first collect a free Entrance Time, which can be hours later. The post office and the line take 30 to 45 minutes if you write a few cards. Snowman World is a day ticket, and families stay for hours; a ride slot is 30 minutes or more.

  • Quick visit (2 to 3 hours): Santa, the Arctic Circle line, the post office, a coffee.
  • Half a day: add a reindeer or husky ride and the shops, or meet Santa in the December rush.
  • Full day: add Snowman World, lunch in the Snow Restaurant and the evening disco.

The shops are part of the visit too. The Santa Claus Office building houses Iittala, Marimekko and Pentik, and the Roosevelt Cottage, the oldest building in the village (1950), is now a reindeer-horn shop. Tours give you between 2 and 4 hours in the village.

Is Santa Claus Village worth it?

Yes, for families with children who believe, and for anyone who wants to stand on the Arctic Circle once. You pay nothing to get in, so you only spend on the parts you want.

The village is small and commercial, and it does not hide that. What makes it work is Santa himself, on duty every day of the year since 1992 at Santa Claus Office, the real post office with its Arctic Circle postmark, and the animals a few steps away. Adults on their own often find two hours enough. With children, the day stretches.

For a family of four, a typical paid day might be the Santa photos (from EUR 57), Snowman World (EUR 140), one 400 m reindeer ride each (EUR 120) and two certificates (about EUR 10): roughly EUR 330, plus food. Pick two of those and the day is still full. Come in December and you get the lights and the snow, but also the longest queues; early November, or January after the holidays, is calmer. What to wear for -10 °C is in the Rovaniemi winter guide.
